Sideways Was Such a Phase

As previously mentioned, Maia has taken a liking to sleeping on her side. That phase of her sleeping career has quickly been replaced by a much preferred sleeping position in this family - belly. So despite what all the doctors say, Maia has decided that sleeping on her belly is best. We have even tried turning onto her back after she’s fallen asleep only to discover her back on her belly later on. She’s convinced - belly sleeping is the way to go.

Cycling has become a synonym for doping

Today Phonak announced that following the conclusion of this year’s pro-tour it would fold the Phonak team. This announcement came in light of the Landis doping scandal and the fact that their title sponsor for next year pulled out.

The comment from the article in VeloNews that stunned me the most is from the team owner, Andy Rihs. He states that, “As a passionate cycling fan, I am bitterly disappointed that the sport of cycling has apparently become a synonym for doping.” The fact that this statement came from the owner of a pro-team is disheartning. If even the people who struggle to make a team successful are convinenced that cycling is all about doping what will be of this sport in a few years.Equally important to consider is that if cycling is all about doping why are some many people getting into cycling for the first time? There is a crazy right now about cycling - and it is a good thing. Everyone says “this is bad for American cycling,” and I agree with that, but bicycle sales are skyrocketting and it seems there are more people riding past our house everyday.I guess I’m not really sure what my point is except the scandals suck, but I’m glad other poeple think riding their bikes is as fun as I do. I just wish I had time to ride mine more…

Eating

Maia had her first non-milk food last night - well her first meal of non-milk food.  (I’ve given her tastes of yummy things in the past like ice cream, strawberry jam, maple syrup…)   She had a bit of rice cereal, but didn’t eat much - just enough to top off a meal of milk.

We didn’t take any pictures of the occasion because it was fairly uneventful.  Also I stopped shortly after she figured out how to buzz her lips together and make it fly out of her mouth - that adds to the lack of eventfulness.

A group of students from Oklahoma State University sent a Pentax DSLR to 104,000 ft via a sounding balloon and took pictures along the way. This pic is from the peak of the flight - look at their entire project’s pictures - it’s amazing.

Not yet

By the way, since everyone is waiting with baited breath,
No we don’t have a new baby yet, and yes we’ll make sure to let everyone know when we do.

Texas to Tel Aviv

The below article from the New Yort Times was posted on JimBurkee.com (running for 5th District of the US House) this evening and all I can say in response is ‘Hell yeah.’
I agree with everything written in this article.  There is no debate about global warming but as there is a realization that our problem [...]
