Finally

As we finished our dinner last night we made a last minute decision to ride our bikes to our dance lesson. We recently purchased a bike trailer so we were ecstatic to use it. I rushed to outfitted my bike and set-up the trailer while Sydney gathered everything to go. We left later than we should but as I clipped in while coasting down the driveway I couldn’t help but smile. It was our first family bike ride!

It was great - almost exhilarating - until I came to the first hill, which really was such a slight incline it wouldn’t have noticed it normally. Of course normally is when I’m on my road bike and in shape. Needless to say, I’m not in shape, was on my heavy touring bike AND pulling a trailer with some misc. stuff and a 18 lb kid in it… I don’t remember the last time I was in such a low gear.

Although the ride was humbling it was motivating. I rode my bike to work today - all exhausting 10 miles of it.

Foiled

As I was walking back inside the twelve story office building I headed pass the convience store and noticed a hand-written sign that read “Tomato Soup w/ Grilled Chees $1.99 Lg $.99 Sm.”

Thinking this was a great deal I decided to “splurge” as it was a great comfort food on such a dreary cold day Upon check-out I slapped my two greenbacks on the table only to discover my bill was $6.37. Upon questioning this I learned that the sign meant the soup was discounted to the prices listed - the sandwich was still $3.99.

Thoughts of false advertising quickly came to mind but I supressed them and handed the smiling Asian woman another $5 dollar bill and told her to keep the change.

By the way, since everyone is waiting with baited breath,
No we don’t have a new baby yet, and yes we’ll make sure to let everyone know when we do.

Texas to Tel Aviv

The below article from the New Yort Times was posted on JimBurkee.com (running for 5th District of the US House) this evening and all I can say in response is ‘Hell yeah.’
I agree with everything written in this article.  There is no debate about global warming but as there is a realization that our problem [...]
