Some of you may have heard about the stink that Google has put up in regards to being included in the dictionary, because they don’t want to become a common name (like band-aids).
They have become so worried about this they have recently posted an entry on their blog (which happens to be down right now) attempting to educate the public on the appropriate use of the word Google.
To this whining I say blah frickin blah… and further more trust me I gave up Google’ing some time ago. I only Yahoo! on Yahoo! - please join me in solving Google’s concerns and use Yahoo.

Google Puts Lid on New Products as announced by the LATimes earlier this month screams that they’ve finally realized what other companies have known all along. That techies may become interested in the potential capabilities of a product, but no one will use it if sucks.
Take Google Maps for example, yes the public beta release a year and 8 months ago (Feb 2005) changed the expectations of capable. Only recently did it officially migrate to be part of Google Local but neither one is very functional. GMail did a similar thing when first being introduced by allowing users a 2 gig storage limit. This has done nothing to reduce Yahoo!’s footprint as the larger service provider of free web mail.
My point being this… Google may release the product first, but Yahoo! does it better. For example Yahoo! Maps has a beta too - but their map is full featured including the capability to map out multiple stops, right click addition of points, and the most detailed satellite imagery publicly available. Also, the new Yahoo! Mail which knocks the sock off any other web mail system and most desktop applications too.
Google has learned its lesson - quality before quantity - will the rest of the poorly created products follow suit? One can only hope.

A group of students from Oklahoma State University sent a Pentax DSLR to 104,000 ft via a sounding balloon and took pictures along the way. This pic is from the peak of the flight - look at their entire project’s pictures - it’s amazing.
By the way, since everyone is waiting with baited breath,
No we don’t have a new baby yet, and yes we’ll make sure to let everyone know when we do.
The below article from the New Yort Times was posted on JimBurkee.com (running for 5th District of the US House) this evening and all I can say in response is ‘Hell yeah.’
