I came home from work moments ago and up to that moment there was nothing abnormal about the day. The day was neither good nor bad - it was average. I walked in, set my laptop bag down in the dinning room and then walked to the doorway of the office where Sydney was working at the computer and Maia was lying on the floor playing. In hearing me enter the room she turned around and started crawling towards me and giggling.
Now for those of you who don’t have children you won’t understand. To those of you that do this makes perfect sense, because during those moments as she crawled towards me for the first time, I realized it was a great day. I wish I’d realize more days that are neither good nor bad are really great days disguised as normal ones.
As for an update beyond this moment, Maia is:
- Sitting up on her own (for the last month or so)
- Pulling herself around the house like a champ (not crawling as the hardwood floors are too slippery)
- Standing up anytime she can grab on to anything
- Has six teeth
- Is getting hair
- And “walks” if the thing she is leaning against moves against her weight (As I write this post she is pushing the footstool across the living/dining room floor and has moved about 7 ft.)

The below article from the New Yort Times was posted on JimBurkee.com (running for 5th District of the US House) this evening and all I can say in response is ‘Hell yeah.’
I agree with everything written in this article. There is no debate about global warming but as there is a realization that our problem [...]
