Naive, but hopefull

I know that I’ve said it, and I’m sure you’ve at least thought it, “we need a third political party.” At nearly every election I find myself wishing there was someone to vote for that was in the middle ground as opposed to picking the lesser of two evils - I’ve just learned of a movement that’s purpose is just this.

Unity ‘08 is a website behind a movement started by a “73-year-old former Republican consultant, who left the game in the late 1980s.” The delegates (anyone) of the party will have the ability to:

• Nominate their ideal president. Shortly after opening the doors for Delegate sign-ups, Delegates will be invited to propose their own ideal Unity Ticket for president and vice president and explain why (in 100 words or less).
• Vote on and elect the next president. Each Unity08 delegate will have one vote in the first online convention and national presidential primary in history in June 2008. The ticket they pick will be on the ballot in all 50 states.
• Help shape the rules of the convention. Shortly, the Rules Committee will propose rules to govern the process. When they are posted online, Delegates will be able to suggest how to improve them.
• Select the crucial issues Unity08 candidates must address. As part of the New American Agenda, Delegates will vote on which issues are crucial to the future safety and well-being of the United States.
• Select the questions on the crucial issues that the candidates must answer. After being fully briefed by a bipartisan team of experts on each crucial issue, Delegates will select the questions to be put to the candidates on the web site.

Like I said at the beginning of this post, the idea is rather naive, but one can only hope…

My goodness, My Guinness

Almost certain tragedy was avoided several days ago, when after setting Maia on the floor to play she quickly wandered over to Sydney and her 1/2 full pint of Guinness which was sitting on the floor. This was unknown to both Jason (as he didn’t know it was on the floor) and Sydney (as she forgot it was on the floor) until Sydney screamed startled to see Maia standing near Sydney holding the pint glass with both hands attempting to taste the tasty beverage.

As Sydney was able to quickly grab the glass from Maia no harm was done, except disappointment in Maia after not being able to enjoy said tasty beverage. This feat demonstrates that Guinness gives you strength, as a mere baby is able to hoist a pint in attempt to drink it.
