phew…

Congress and SoundExchange have heard loud and clear the amazing outpouring of support for Internet radio from webcasters, listeners and the thousands of artists they support. A commitment has been made to negotiate reasonable royalties, recognizing the industry’s long-term value and its still-developing revenue potential.

During negotiations SoundExchange committed temporarily not to enforce the new royalty rates so webcasters can stay online as new rates are agreed upon.

This development is due in great part to the millions of people who have let their Congressional representatives know about their support of Internet radio. Over 125 representatives have cosponsored the bill to this point.

We urge listeners to continue calling their Senators and Representative to ask them to co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act. Thank you.

Recent Changes

I haven’t taken the time to write about Maia recently, mainly because we’ve been so busy. She’s been changing quicker than ever as her vocabulary is growing daily (literally). We’ve definitely entered the phase where she repeats everything we say - or tries to.

As we are in full summer swing we have gone swimming with Maia several times now - in Lake Michigan, Pewaukee Lake and Eagle Spring Lake. She loves it all - not a huge fan of going under water or getting too much water in her face, but we are working on it.

She’s also communicating much more than ever through pointing and shaking her head ‘no’. All in all it’s been fun - below is a video that I took of her and Syd on the couch as Maia asks to be tickled more, practices her body parts and goodbye kisses.

She’s also started to figure out how to use the rocking ‘horse’ that Hans got Maia for Christmas last year. She still needs to be placed on, but as you can see she’s able to rock a little bit now. More importantly, she asks us to pull it out and shakes her head ‘no’ when we try to take her down…

A group of students from Oklahoma State University sent a Pentax DSLR to 104,000 ft via a sounding balloon and took pictures along the way. This pic is from the peak of the flight - look at their entire project’s pictures - it’s amazing.

By the way, since everyone is waiting with baited breath,
No we don’t have a new baby yet, and yes we’ll make sure to let everyone know when we do.

Texas to Tel Aviv

The below article from the New Yort Times was posted on JimBurkee.com (running for 5th District of the US House) this evening and all I can say in response is ‘Hell yeah.’
I agree with everything written in this article.  There is no debate about global warming but as there is a realization that our problem [...]
