Taken on Saturday evening, Tarek is one day old and Maia is almost two and a half. You don’t care how old Syd and I are.
Maia has been amazing with Tarek. She is very excited to have him in the world and treats him very well. She is always anxious to help us take care of him and LOVES holding him. We are blessed.

The midwife broke Syd’s water around 5 and Tarek James was born at 7:42. The actual birthing only took 10 minutes! I’ll provide more details later as I’m on my BlackBerry, but he was 8 lbs 7 oz! And 20.5 inches long.
Both Tarek and Syd are doing great! Enjoy the pictures!

As many of you know we had an appointment to check on the baby this afternoon. The baby is doing great, but the placenta is not fully doing its job. So after talking to the midwife we determined that we’d come back in a couple of hours and break Syd’s water and get going.
Another August birthday….
We’ll send out another update when we are a family of four.

A group of students from Oklahoma State University sent a Pentax DSLR to 104,000 ft via a sounding balloon and took pictures along the way. This pic is from the peak of the flight - look at their entire project’s pictures - it’s amazing.
