L.A. Wedding

We just got back from Los Angeles on Monday July 17 having been out there since Thursday for Tom and Ruth’s wedding. It was a great trip, but very tiring.

First of all we took Maia with us – most people shudder when they hear that we had a 4 1/2 month old with us on the plane. Not sure if the shudder at the thought on being on the plane with us or for the stress they thought it would cause. Thankfully, both were non-issues, Maia (as usual) was a good baby and slept most of the way there and back. She did cry for about 10 minutes straight on the way back to Milwaukee, but other people commented to us that she was a perfect baby after we landed.

The wedding activities were phenomenal. The only thing that could have made it better would have been less heat. Being in the valley the temperature was about 107 F everyday. When we went to Santa Monica on Sunday it was literally 30 degrees cooler than in the valley.

We took Tom out to a great British pub for his bachelor party on Thursday, worked on getting last minute stuff finished for the wedding on Friday, then had the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, then worked on more stuff, then on Saturday Tom and I had a “relaxing” breakfast to make sure he got some food in him that day (it didn’t work much), and then finished last minute things before pictures. At 2:45 we were finished with all the preperations and had to be ready for pictures at 3:00. Needless to say we were a bit late.

The wedding itself was almost perfect. Minus the distraction of feeling sweat run down my legs throughout the ceremony it was beautiful. The reception was also a lot of fun. Sydney spent most of her time taking pictures and those will be posted soon.

All in all it was a great trip – just wish we had more relaxing prior to the wedding. (Don’t worry Tom, we took note and you’ll have it easier in Sept.)
